Balance is Wellness

My favourite memory is of listening to her reading me a cartoon called “Liewe Heksie” (Sweet Little Witch).

This little witch was scatterbrained and often caused chaos in Blommeland (Flowerland). She mostly tried to help her friends. The moral was about being kind, forgiving, or working together, the power of community.

I really admired her and saw myself in her, and unbeknownst to me, my subconscious was being programmed.

However, for all her great qualities, what this experience did, was let me buy into the fantasy of one-sidedness in myself, others, and the world.

It set me up with totally unrealistic expectations of myself to be, and prove, that I am indeed a good witch/person, with a kind heart and good intentions, and that the world is also unconditionally kind, supportive and full of love, just like Blommeland.

To the survival brain, a fantasy, just like a nightmare, equals stress.

Long before Restore was born, a health challenge forced me to start my journey into autonomic nervous system regulation.

I discovered the link between my physical/mental health issues and my imbalanced perceptions.

In doing so, I learnt where this imbalance originated from, how it drove my nervous system impulses/instincts and ongoing bouts of depression, high cortisol, alcohol and dopamine addiction, panic and anxiety attacks - and inevitably my life experience in terms of what I attracted and repelled.

When I restored balance to my imbalanced perceptions, by owning all parts of me in equal and opposite amounts, my life, health and relationships changed rapidly.
Liewe Heksie / Sweet Little Witch, a much-loved Afrikaans character.

Why? Because when I do not resist, and see all parts of me in balance, the synthesis of that synchronicity of complementary opposites is called LOVE.

Witnessing the result of restoring this imbalance in me has been nothing short of transformational, and I suspect it is the reason the clients who benefit from Restore the most, call me a witch.

Liewe Heksie would be chuffed 🧙
